Grade 12 can be one of the most overwhelming and high-pressure years in a young person’s life. Students face intense academic demands, societal expectations, and the uncertainty of life beyond school. On top of that, they’re expected to know exactly what steps to take next, whether it’s pursuing higher education, jumping into the workforce, or exploring other opportunities. We understand the stress and confusion this can bring.
At Sisonke Wellness Foundation, we recognize these challenges and are thrilled to announce the launch of our Ni Ya Phumelela Employment Services Toolkit, aimed at empowering Grade 12 learners. This initiative is part of our involvement with the Work to Ignite Africa Consortium, a collective of NPOs dedicated to uplifting the youth of Africa. Our toolkit is designed to provide crucial guidance and information to help learners make informed decisions about their futures.
South Africa’s youth unemployment rate is alarmingly high, and we know that the journey beyond Grade 12 is often filled with uncertainty. That’s why our toolkit offers comprehensive resources to support learners as they transition into the next phase of their lives—whether that be further education, entering the job market, or exploring other opportunities. From career planning and practical job search strategies to personal finance tips and insights into entrepreneurship, we’ve compiled everything young people need to take charge of their futures.
We are incredibly proud to be part of the Work to Ignite Africa Consortium, contributing to the fight against youth unemployment. Our aim is to empower young people to make choices that lead them toward success, stability, and fulfillment. By equipping them with the right tools, we can help them navigate life after Grade 12 with confidence.
