We are thrilled to announce a new and impactful partnership between Sisonke Wellness Foundation and The South African College of Applied Psychology (SACAP), a prestigious institution with a remarkable history of advancing psychology education in South Africa. Founded in 1997 by Clinical Psychologist Marc Feitelberg, SACAP began its journey with just 18 students in a small cottage in Wynberg, Cape Town. Today, it has grown into a prominent institution with campuses in all four major urban centres across the country, a flourishing online campus, and over 3,000 students nationwide.

SACAP has long been a pioneer of Work-Integrated Learning (WIL), successfully placing thousands of students in over 60 workplace and community settings throughout its 25-year history. This hands-on approach has not only provided much-needed mental health services at the grassroots level but also offered invaluable experience and skill development for the students, making SACAP a leader among private tertiary education institutions in South Africa.

In June 2024, Sisonke Wellness proudly joined SACAP’s network of partner organisations, becoming a site for their students to engage in Work-Integrated Learning. This partnership is a significant milestone for us, as it aligns perfectly with our mission to foster mental health awareness, provide quality support services, and contribute to the development of future mental health professionals.

Through this collaboration, Sisonke Wellness Foundation will offer SACAP students a robust platform for practical psychology training. We are committed to providing comprehensive training, mentorship, support, and guidance, ensuring that students not only gain practical skills but also experience working in diverse psychological settings alongside various mental health professionals.

We are honoured to be part of SACAP’s purpose-driven journey and look forward to a fruitful partnership that will positively impact both the students and the communities they serve. Together, we are dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the field of mental health in South Africa.
