We are thrilled to announce that Sisonke Wellness Foundation is now part of the NPOs participating in the Civil 20 (C20) Engagement Group, as South Africa prepares to host the prestigious G20 Summit in 2025. The C20 is a vital platform that amplifies the voices of civil society organizations globally, ensuring that important social issues are addressed within G20 discussions. For us, this is a unique opportunity to advocate for the mental health and well-being of children and youth on a global stage.
On 1 October, we proudly hosted our first hybrid meeting as part of the C20 engagement, marking the official kickoff of our efforts towards shaping discussions that will impact millions of lives. This initial meeting brought together a dynamic group of organizations, all committed to ensuring that the 2025 G20 Summit reflects the most pressing needs of communities around the world, with a particular focus on vulnerable populations.
As a foundation dedicated to promoting mental health awareness and support, we are eager to use this platform to advocate for the mental health of children and youth. Mental health remains a critical and often underrepresented issue in global policy discussions, especially concerning younger populations. Through our involvement with the C20, we aim to push for more comprehensive policies and resources that prioritize the mental health of future generations.
This is not only an exciting opportunity for Sisonke Wellness Foundation but also for the communities and individuals we serve. Being part of this global movement allows us to grow our network, collaborate with like-minded organizations, and continue our mission of creating accessible mental health care and support.
We look forward to working closely with other civil society organizations in the lead-up to the 2025 G20 Summit, contributing to impactful dialogues, and ensuring that the voices of children, youth, and their mental well-being are heard at the highest levels. Together, we can make a lasting difference.
Stay connected with us as we continue this important journey, and follow our updates as we prepare for more meetings and engagements on the road to 2025!
