We are excited to announce our recent partnership with UNICEF UKZN’s volunteer team, focusing on raising awareness and educating university students about critical issues such as feminine hygiene, menstrual health, female mental health, and mental health in general. At Sisonke Wellness Foundation, we are deeply committed to working with the youth, and supporting students is one of the cornerstones of our mission.

University is a time of immense change and growth, where students from diverse backgrounds begin new chapters in their lives. They are often faced with the challenge of balancing academic pressures with the responsibilities of adulthood, which can be overwhelming. Not all students are fully equipped to handle the stress and demands of university life, and that’s where we come in. Through this partnership, we are dedicated to providing students with the resources, education, and support they need to navigate the complexities of university life successfully.

Our joint initiative is designed to address not only the physical aspects of feminine hygiene and menstrual health but also the mental and emotional well-being of female students this women’s month. We believe that education and awareness are key to empowering students at large, helping them make informed decisions, and fostering a healthier, more resilient student community.

These initiatives are vital to UNICEF’s global mission of promoting the health, education, and well-being of young people. UNICEF recognises that addressing menstrual health and hygiene is crucial for ensuring that all girls and young women have the opportunity to stay in school, complete their education, and participate fully in society. By joining forces with Sisonke Wellness Foundation, UNICEF UKZN volunteers are helping to break down the barriers that prevent students from thriving, ensuring they have the tools and support they need to succeed in their academic and personal lives.

We are passionate about providing university students with the survival skills they need to manage the pressures of the tertiary environment. This partnership is a testament to our commitment to fostering a culture of awareness, support, and empowerment among students. Together with UNICEF UKZN volunteers, we are making a meaningful impact on the lives of students, helping them build a foundation for success both during and after their university years.
